Learning Your Rights and Your Options

In Colorado, every employer with at least one employee should have workers’ compensation insurance. Your access to these benefits does not depend on your part-time or full-time status.

Injured workers receive financial support to cover medical expenses and lost wages through workers’ compensation. Moreover, it includes different types of disabilities with benefits such as the following:

  • When it comes to lost wages, you may be entitled to temporary total disability benefits (TTD), which covers two-thirds of your average weekly pay. As you return to work, you may be entitled to receive temporary partial disability benefits (TPD). Through these benefits, you may recover lost wages from going to medical appointments or to compensate you for the hours you would have worked if you were not injured.

  • In terms of permanent disability, you may receive permanent partial disability (PPD) or permanent total disability (PTD) benefits. The first type is to compensate a worker for the permanent loss or loss of function of a body part. The second covers wages should they be unable to work again.

Each of the benefits above has specific rules regarding calculation and eligibility. If you are unsure about what type of benefits you should receive or the amount you should be paid, I can help. If your case is complex or you require more time to recover, I can assert your rights. If your employer or insurance carrier denied your workers’ comp benefits, call me. Let me explain your rights, your options and how we can recover your workers’ compensation benefits.
